Dog

Breath Deodoriser/Toothpaste

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Baking Soda
1 drop Clove
1 drop Aniseed

Application:
Mix this up and use as needed with cotton wool (rather than a toothbrush to avoid damaging the gums).  Dampen the cotton wool and dip it into the mixture and use on teeth.  Afterwards give the dog a drink of water.

 

Eczema/Itching

Ingredients:
2 Drops NZ Manuka
2 Drops Chamomile
1 tsp Almond or Jojoba

Application:
Massage into hairless or least hairy area of the skin, such as the armpit, groin or inner thigh, and to affected area if it is not raw. Massage gently for 3 - 4 mins.

 

Ticks/Fleas Wash

Ingredients:
2 drops Citronella
2 drops Lemongrass

Application:
Add essential oils to 20mls natural pet shampoo and wash dog as usual.

 

Ticks/Fleas Spray

Ingredients:
Cedarwood
Citronella
Peppermint
Thyme (for ticks)
4-5 cloves Garlic
3/4 teaspoon vodka

Application:
Blend together 6 drops of your chosen essential oils with the garlic and vodka. Soak an old cloth collar or even a cotton scarf. These collars can work for 10- 30 days.

 

Wounds/Abscesses

Ingredients:
Lavender
NZ Manuka
Calendula, Jojoba, and/or Almond

Application:
Wash wound with water and NZ Manuka, and then apply 4 drops NZ Manuka to 10mls Almond or Jojoba. Once the wound has started to heal/is not infected use 4 drops Lavender in 10mls Jojoba and or Calendula to help healing and hair growth.

 

Sprains/Arthritis

Uses:
To rub onto any aching muscles/joints.

Ingredients:
10mls Arnica
40mls Almond
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Juniper
10 drops Rosemary
(you can get away with only using 2 of the above essential oils - just keep the total number of drops to 20)

Application:
Massage regularly onto trouble spots. Don't use repetitively for more than 10 days. Stops for 2-3 days and then commence again.

 

Ear Infection

Uses:
To help clear the deep wax out of the ear and clear infections.

Ingredients:
15mls Almond
5 drops Lavender
7 drops Bergamot
2 drops Chamomile

Application:
Drop 1-2 drops into ear, massage external ear area.

 

Fearful dog

Uses:
When travelling, going into kennels, new home, separation, etc…
Ingredients:
Lavender
Chamomile
Geranium
Basil

Application:
Vaporise and/or put a few drops onto their bedding.

 

Odour

Uses:
For smelly dogs

Ingredients:
Lemongrass
Cinnamon
Eucalyptus
Pet Shampoo

Application:
Add 10 drops of the above essential oil(s) to 20mls of your pet shampoo. You can also mix these essential oils into water and spray around the home and/or onto bedding (approximately 40 drops of essential oils into 50mls of water).
